Statement
My work examines the meaning of ordinary objects when placed into an altered environment. An audience’s point of view is affected by settings and I experiment through composition, process, and presentation. I choose objects that are often unseen, if not ignored, to call on the viewer's awareness and experiment with alternative mediums to compliment the emotion in my work. As someone who is not great at conversations, these common objects are my connection to the viewer as I try to convey feelings based on my personal experiences and thoughts on focal issues. For presentation, I try to find the simplest form which helps understand the feeling or message I’m trying to convey. My artistic journey has been inspired by the works of architect Zaha Hadid, painter Frida Kahlo, photographer Andreas Feininger, and sculptor Do Ho Suh.
